The HiPE Japan, Inc. On the day of 2023, a Christmas party was held in Cebu City. All Manila members traveled to Cebu to attend, just as they did last year.
This year, we had approximately 20 Japanese guests.

We appreciate you coming all the way to Cebu at the end of the year, when you are extremely busy, and for your participation.
The party began with prayers, the introduction of the guests of honour, and a performance by HiPE staff. There was a performance contest featuring a band and four teams.

This time, the jury consisted of Japanese guests, and the winner was the Manila team.

At the end of the day, as in previous years, the most illustrious employee of the year was honored.
The award was given to Maila, an engineer who has been with Company B since its inception.
Her speech following the award presentation was also impressive.
Mr K, the client in charge of the project, handed her the trophy.

We also received one more surprise award for the year 2021. We announced it this year because a super typhoon hit Cebu two years ago, preventing us from holding a Christmas party there... This year, we were finally able to make the announcement. Nicole received the award for her contributions to the BPO business since its inception. She has significantly contributed to the increase in staff.

This year's party was truly the happiest ever, and we've been charged for next year. We at HiPE will do our best to organize it again next year.

We have assigned 10 PPC management agents to a marketing company in Tokyo, and we will assist them with listing Japanese products in the USA market, advertising operations, etc.

Focus to the goal
This year, we were able to hold a Christmas party jointly with Cebu members and Manila members in Cebu Island, Philippines.
Last year, a large typhoon hit Cebu two days before the Christmas party was scheduled to be held, causing severe damage to the Visayas region. Therefore, this year all members were able to enjoy 2 years' worth of fun. This time, Hiro, a client from Hokkaido, who happened to come to Cebu to stay at the right time, also participated.

At company Christmas parties in the Philippines, companies give gifts to employees. This year, in addition to the usual food, we have prepared mugs with portraits of each person printed on them designed by designers.

We were divided into teams and put on performances (singing and dancing), so everyone could have fun. Filipinos really love singing and dancing.
Intermission
HiPE will award the engineer who contributed the most to the Christmas party that year. This year, Serrano-kun, who contributed the most to increasing the number of team members, was crowned King of Employee 2022.

At the end of the party, I gave a speech about next year's plans and looking back on the past three years. When I looked at all the employees from the stage with Kevin and Greg who first participated in November 2019, I felt that the number of engineers has really increased. HiPE looks like it will be able to start next year in the best condition. It was a wonderful party that made us promise to do our best to have an even bigger party next year.

We will notify you from Cebu. Due to the pandemic that began in March of last year, HiPE has been operating a mix of remote work and office operations, but engineers are now in the office all day developing for clients.
We are delighted to help you. Vaccinations in Cebu are going well, and the number of new infections is decreasing. HiPE engineers are also being vaccinated on a regular basis. Because of these factors, I've decided to return to full-time office work.
Working remotely for over a year and a half has allowed us to maintain operations smoothly, but some challenges have surfaced. Engineers, while efficiently handling their tasks, experienced a decline in social awareness and occasional miscommunication. Questions about colleagues' availability during free time or delayed responses due to differing time zones added to the negative experiences.
Additionally, when junior engineers seek guidance from seniors through chat, it often interrupts the latter's workflow. Looking ahead, the prospect of working in the same location raises optimism for improved collaboration, eliminating potential time wastage and enhancing product delivery speed and quality.
Despite the ongoing battle against the coronavirus, we remain committed to stringent infection control measures. Although we anticipate working in a shared location, we acknowledge the unpredictable nature of the situation and hope to avoid a return to full-time remote work.
As we approach the holiday season, we extend our wishes for a safe and joyous Christmas party, mindful of the need to adapt plans based on prevailing circumstances.
Our laboratory suffered severe damage from Typhoon Odette at the end of last year. We anticipate that it will take some time to recover, so we have decided to start operating at our new address from today.

As some of you may know, starting from February 2022, it will be possible to enter the Philippines only with a tourist visa. Before the pandemic, many clients visited Cebu HiPE Lab. After about two years, we were finally able to resume inspections. To date, groups from four companies have already visited our laboratory after the relaxation of regulations. Not only myself, but the engineers also seemed nervous as they were meeting Japanese people for the first time in about two years.
